Someone very close made a statement not too long ago about not believing in God, and how could I believe in some all powerful Being who allows children to be raped, beaten, and killed. Or who lets bad things happen to good people.
Even though it was a rather blanketed statement, and after thinking, or at least trying to think from that mindset, it made me think that there are probably many, many people who think like that.
So I started taking a mental survey and asked others what they thought. I was minimumly surprised that it was usually the ones that have been through a lot of hardships that think this way. But what was really sad was that they blamed God for everything.
This, of course, raises another question in my mind...
How can one say, in one breath, that there is no God, and then in the next breath blame all their problems on someone that doesn't exist?
Perhaps one day someone will give me an answer to that.
But as far as making God the scapegoat for all the misfortunes of the world - well if it wasn't for the concept of "free will" then I suppose s/he would be a good candidate for blame.
Speaking as one who has been through many hardships and been to hell and back I too could find it easy to blame my Creator IF my Truth allowed it.
But my truth tells me that in this game of life, we are the ones responsible for our circumstances. We write the script, we direct the play and we are the key actors.
